The full take on Spark +AI

Spark +AI is the AI layer inside Spark Mail, a native, multi-provider email client from Readdle/Spark Mail Limited. It is a strong fit for people who want drafting, summarization, natural-language inbox retrieval, calendar actions, and meeting notes across several email providers in one client; it is less suited to users who want a lightweight mailbox or a Gmail-only add-on. The largest editorial caveat is that current criticism often targets the wider Spark Desktop product's performance, pricing, and AI-heavy direction rather than directly testing the quality of each +AI feature.

What Spark +AI does

Compose new messages; generate quick replies; rephrase, shorten, expand, proofread, and change tone; translate incoming and outgoing mail; summarize emails and threads in short, detailed, or action-item formats; adapt templates to incoming messages; transcribe and summarize meetings; retrieve information from email, calendar, meeting notes, and PDF or TXT attachments; extract action items; draft messages; manage calendar availability and scheduling; and organize mail through commands such as archiving newsletters or unsubscribing.

Product type

Native cross-platform email client with an integrated AI writing toolkit and inbox assistant. Spark +AI is not a standalone browser extension.

Email and platform support

The AI Assistant documentation lists Gmail/Google Workspace, Outlook/Office 365 including Exchange Online, iCloud, Yahoo, and standard IMAP accounts including custom domains. Spark +AI is available in Spark 3 on desktop, iOS, and Android.

Plans and cost

Spark Free includes a limited AI Assistant preview and one month of searchable email history. Spark Plus is $10/month or $99/year and includes one year of AI Assistant history, Spark +AI writing tools, and 40 AI meeting notes per month. Spark Pro is $20/month or $199/year and includes unlimited AI Assistant history and unlimited AI meeting notes. All +AI tools share a monthly quota; Spark names the tiers Basic, Extended, and High but does not publish exact quota amounts. Existing Spark Premium subscriptions are legacy plans and are no longer offered to new customers.

Free plan or trial

The Free plan includes a limited AI Assistant preview and five lifetime +AI Meeting Notes. Plus and Pro have a seven-day trial when subscribed to in the app. Free users cannot buy a quota add-on after their preview allowance is exhausted.

What happens to your email data

Spark says +AI is disabled by default. AI Assistant builds its email and meeting-note index locally on the device; for a query, it sends the prompt and a small set of relevant emails to a third-party AI provider. Spark's May 2026 privacy policy names Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Claude, and Vertex AI as possible providers, says inputs are not used to train AI models, and allows provider retention for abuse monitoring for up to 30 days. The same policy says some data, including My Writing Style samples and description, meeting notes and summaries, AI Assistant history, and AI workflow commands/rules, can remain until the user deletes it or deletes the Spark account.

Security certifications and data-handling commitments are attributed to the vendor unless the supporting audit artifact was independently reviewed.

What users are saying

The one direct recent +AI recommendation found in the retrieved corpus praised the feature after a month of use. The stronger volume of current named-product discussion was negative and focused on Spark Desktop becoming slower, more complex, and more AI- and upgrade-oriented. Treat that as product-level sentiment, not proof that drafting, search, or calendar actions individually perform poorly.

Signal quality

Moderate for the wider Spark Mail product; weak for a feature-by-feature judgment of Spark +AI itself.

Coverage window

2026-07-10 through 2026-08-09

A creator said they had tested Spark for a month and recommended it, "especially the AI feature"; the post had 5,146 views and 183 likes in the research capture.

The clearest direct, recent positive signal about +AI itself, though it is one creator post and not a controlled review.

A departure thread reached 52 points and 41 comments; the author described the client as slow and bloated with unwanted AI features.

Strong current warning about the wider product experience and AI direction, but not a feature-by-feature test of +AI.

A current performance thread had 9 points and 10 comments and reported worsening responsiveness after updates.

Performance risk for the host email client can outweigh good AI capabilities in an editorial verdict.

An independent review described Spark as a multi-account, collaborative email workspace whose practical AI layer is useful, but whose best quotas and team features live behind paid tiers.

Useful independent framing; product facts should still be checked against first-party pages.

Wyse Spark review ↗ Updated 2026-04
Research caveat: X was unavailable because browser-backed authentication did not complete. YouTube returned no usable recent videos, Instagram failed with a 404, Polymarket had no relevant markets, and GitHub/Hacker News results were dominated by unrelated uses of the word "Spark." The raw engine run contained substantial homonym noise (Apache Spark, Story Spark, Sparking Zero, and unrelated AI tools); none of that noise supports claims about Spark Mail. Web research supplemented the sparse direct social evidence.

What to know before choosing Spark +AI

  • The dedicated Spark +AI feature page still refers to the legacy Premium plan, while the current pricing and billing pages sell Plus and Pro to new users. Use the billing page as the pricing source of truth and date all prices.
  • Exact monthly AI quota amounts are not public. Do not translate Basic, Extended, or High into invented credits or unlimited general +AI usage.
  • AI Assistant is unavailable in mainland China and can be disabled on hardware that fails Spark's requirements. The current documentation excludes non-M- series Macs, iPhone 11, and iPhone SE (2nd generation); iPad requires A14 or later, while Windows and Android run a speed check.
  • Do not describe Spark +AI as fully local or zero-retention. The local index is only part of the architecture, provider retention may last up to 30 days, and selected AI account data can persist until deletion.
  • Recent negative threads largely concern Spark Desktop performance, forced migration, upgrade prompts, and product direction. They should inform a limitation section but not be rewritten as evidence that every +AI output is inaccurate.
  • Spark's May 2026 AI Agents/CLI integration is adjacent but distinct from the in-app +AI tools and quota. Keep the two concepts separate on directory and comparison pages.
  • Some independent 2026 reviews still quote the retired Premium pricing, so third-party price tables are unsafe without checking the live billing page.
  • Affiliate and sponsorship status was not established in this research. Do not imply a commercial relationship or include monetized links without a separate disclosure check.
