Spike is a cross-platform email client that turns conventional email into person-centered, chat-like conversations and layers contextual drafting, summaries, a general assistant, and an AI Feed over the inbox. It is best suited to people and small teams that want multiple email accounts, chat, notes, tasks, calls, and shared-inbox work in one client. Its chat metaphor is the main buying decision rather than a cosmetic feature, and current App Store reviews include both strong accessibility praise and reports of iPhone reliability problems.

What Spike does
Context-aware email and reply generation; summaries of email conversations, messages, notes, files, and attachments; a general-purpose assistant inside the workspace; and AI Feed, which summarizes unread email and exposes mark-read, archive, delete, and bulk actions from the summaries. Spike's current app listings also describe smart filters and priority sorting.

Spike Email App has Free ($0), Pro ($6/user/month billed annually), and Ultimate ($12/user/month billed annually). Teamspace has Starter (free for up to three members), Team ($4/member/month billed annually), and Business ($8/member/month billed annually). These are separate plan families and should not be merged in a directory price card.

The Email App Free plan includes one email address and 10 queries each for AI message generation, AI conversation summaries, and the AI assistant; it does not include AI Feed. The Teamspace Starter plan supports up to three members and lists the same 10-query AI limits. Paid plans list unlimited use for those AI features and include AI Feed. The public pricing page does not state a separate paid-plan trial duration.

What happens to your email data
Spike says it does not rent, sell, distribute, or monetize user data and is ad-free. Its security and privacy pages say Gmail and other OAuth account passwords are not stored; accounts without OAuth use encrypted credentials; message data is stored with AES-256 and a unique key per message; and the service may securely access or store email, conversations, contacts, authentication tokens, and other minimum data needed to operate. These are vendor claims, not independently verified guarantees.
Security certifications and data-handling commitments are attributed to the vendor unless the supporting audit artifact was independently reviewed.

Limitations
What to know before choosing Spike
- The name Spike collides with neuroscience, price changes, weather, esports, and unrelated apps. Use Spike Email, Spike AI by SpikeNow, and the canonical spikenow.com URL in titles, schema, prompts, and research.
- Spike AI and iGPT are related but distinct offerings in current first-party material. Combining them would overstate the client feature set.
- The public privacy policy was last modified in January 2025 and does not clearly identify AI model providers or state a specific AI training and retention policy for email content. Do not publish stronger AI-privacy claims without a newer first-party disclosure.
- Current highlighted App Store reviews include reports of freezes, failed sends, broken controls, inability to edit chat text easily, and early subscription gating. These are anecdotes, not measured failure rates, but are material editorial caveats for an email client.
- The pricing page contains two plan families with different limits. A single unsuffixed price would be misleading.
